TALBOT ORIENTAL RUGS

​In Greek mythology, the Caucasus region, a land of mystery, sorcery, and great wealth, was known as the “Colchis”. There, amidst the mountains and steeply cut valleys of antiquity, the Argonauts famously sought for the Golden Fleece. There, too, dwelled the sorceress Medea—daughter of Aeëtes, King of Colchis—who aided Jason in his quest for the Fleece. The Colchis Collection, from Talbot Oriental Rugs, seeks to follow in the path of the Argonauts and rekindle a little of the mystery and magic of the great early rugs of the Caucasus—the “Colchis”—for our time.
